Who is Nomi Abadi

Grammy®-nominated virtuoso pianist, singer, composer, activist, and inventor of the NORY® double keytar, Nomi Abadi started composing themes when she was four years old. She toured and performed as a guest soloist with numerous orchestras around the world as a child prodigy, notably as the youngest pianist ever with the Orange County Chamber Orchestra at age 5, and as pianist of the acclaimed Grammy-nominated album, “Sekou Andrew and the String Theory”. Nomi's guest solo piano tours have taken her to Budapest, Hungary, Prague, Portugal, Angola, and all across the US.

Nomi received her piano education from her father, a fourth-generation music teacher, and as a child at the Mannes School of Music (the New School) in New York City. Her grandmother was Tom Waits's piano teacher. She discovered her passion for acting and film when she was 12 years old. Her first film, "Roadkill" premiered in 2020, which she wrote, produced, scored and starred in, won Best Dark Comedy in the Independent Shorts Awards and awarded Nomi as half of the award for "Best Acting Duo". Nomi studies acting in the master class of Gregory Berger-Sobeck, coach to Riz Ahmed and Lupita N’Yongo.

Nomi has 25 credits to her name as a film, TV and game composer. Her clients include Apple, Bose, Cartoon Network, and various independent filmmakers nationwide. As a trauma survivor and trauma education and healing advocate, Nomi formed the Female Composer Safety League, a nonprofit focused on creating safety and equality for composers of disenfranchised genders and race in the audio industry.

Nomi invented the world's first double keytar, NORY®, a finalist in the Guthman Instrument Competition at IT Tech, and finalist in the all-female entrepreneur organization Pitches 2 Bitches. NORY® will make its television debut on AppleTV later this year.

My DREAM is that everyone on this podcast gets paid - not only me and amazing producer, Rogue Spirit Podcasting, but also my guests.

Most of the people I speak with experience systematic oppression and give their time for free.

Yet I truly don’t believe that we can have true inclusion without money. Too much change-making happens at the expense of the change-maker.

With your help, I can make this dream a reality.

Becoming a monthly supporter will unlock bonus episodes about how I create the music for each guest.
